Staff Stories

Meet Sarah – Senior Care Assistant, Maison La Corderie

When Sarah first joined MHA Jersey as a Support Worker in 2015, she was looking for a career that combined her love of people with a sense of purpose. “From my first day, I felt part of something special,” she says. “The team was so welcoming, and I quickly realised this was more than just a job – it was a community.”

Through MHA Jersey’s structured training and mentorship, Sarah completed her QCF Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications, gaining the confidence to take on new responsibilities. “The support I received was fantastic. My managers encouraged me to develop my skills, and the residents inspired me every day.”

In 2020, Sarah was promoted to Senior Care Assistant. She now leads shifts, supports new staff, and works closely with residents and families to ensure the highest standards of care. “No two days are the same,” she says. “I love being able to bring a smile to someone’s face, whether through a chat over tea, a walk in the garden, or helping with daily routines.”

Sarah’s story reflects the heart of working at MHA Jersey: growth, teamwork and genuine human connection. “I never imagined how much I’d gain personally and professionally,” she says. “This job has given me skills for life, lifelong friends, and the chance to make a real difference.”
