Founded in 1953, MHA Jersey (Methodist Homes for the Aged) is a charitable organisation dedicated to providing exceptional residential care for older adults across the island. Inspired by Christian values of compassion and service, we operate two welcoming homes: Stuart Court in St Lawrence and Maison La Corderie in St Helier. For over 70 years, we have supported residents to live with dignity, independence and community connection. Guided by a local Board and a committed team, we continue to evolve—combining tradition and innovation to provide high-quality, person-centred care for generations to come.
At MHA Jersey, life is vibrant and varied. Both of our homes offer daily activities and events designed to support physical, mental and social wellbeing. From gentle exercise and arts & crafts to gardening, music, quizzes and community outings, there’s something for everyone. Residents are encouraged to shape the activity programme through regular meetings and feedback, ensuring it reflects their interests and traditions. Outings in our shared minibus help residents stay connected with Jersey’s beautiful surroundings and local community. Whether joining a group activity or enjoying quiet time, every resident is supported to live life to the fullest.
Health and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do. Our experienced care teams work closely with each resident, their families, GPs and community professionals to ensure care is tailored to individual needs. Regular assessments, monthly one-to-one reviews, and use of secure electronic care planning systems help us deliver responsive, person-centred support. Residents have access to visiting professionals including chiropodists, hairdressers and allied health services, and are encouraged to take an active role in their own wellbeing. Our aim is to support independence, dignity and quality of life through compassionate, professional care in a homely environment.
Nutritious, freshly prepared meals are a highlight of daily life at MHA Jersey. Our talented catering teams create varied menus that reflect residents’ preferences, seasonal produce, and dietary requirements. Each day, residents are consulted on their meal choices and can request alternatives to suit their tastes. Mealtimes are social occasions, held in comfortable dining rooms that encourage conversation and connection. Residents also have access to a dedicated space in the dining room where they and their families can make tea and coffee at any time. Regular food satisfaction surveys and resident meetings ensure our approach remains inclusive, enjoyable, and focused on individual needs.
MHA Jersey is rooted in Christian values, but welcomes and respects people of all faiths and none. Spiritual and pastoral care is offered to anyone who wishes to receive it. Regular church services are held in both homes, alongside celebrations of religious festivals and meaningful life events. Residents are supported to practise their own faith traditions and access visiting clergy or community groups. Our compassionate teams offer pastoral support during times of change, reflection or bereavement, ensuring emotional and spiritual needs are met with sensitivity. Faith and pastoral care are integral to creating a supportive, inclusive community.
