Music, Ice Cream and Creative Moments: A Week of Joy Across MHA Jersey
What a week it’s been! Across MHA Jersey, residents have enjoyed a wonderfully musical, social and creative week, filled with laughter, activities and community spirit. From lively singalongs to seaside treats, it’s been a joyful reminder of how vibrant daily life can be.
The week began with a rousing visit from the much-loved Swing Style group, whose upbeat tunes had everyone singing, clapping and even dancing along. Their performance filled the lounge with energy, and the smiles on residents’ faces said it all. Music has a unique power to bring people together, and Swing Style did just that.
We were also treated to a surprise performance by Mac, whose beautiful harmonica melodies floated through the rooms, creating a moment of calm and connection. Residents reminisced about old favourites and joined in with humming and gentle foot taps — proof that music truly transcends generations.
Midweek brought a delicious outing to St Brelade’s Bay, where residents tucked into ice creams by the seaside, enjoying the sunshine and the sound of the waves. A visit to The Lavender Farm followed, where tea and scones were the order of the day — light, fluffy, and unanimously declared “scrumptious!”
Back at the homes, creativity took centre stage with a shell and stone art and craft session, where residents painted and decorated seaside treasures with bright colours and patterns. These simple, tactile activities often spark conversation and shared memories, making them both relaxing and meaningful.
The ever-popular Knit and Natter group met at the Salvation Army café, filling the room with chatter, laughter, and the rhythmic click of knitting needles. It’s a weekly highlight where friendships flourish over coffee, wool, and shared stories.
Of course, no week would be complete without some Bingo fun. “Eyes down!” echoed through the room as residents played with enthusiasm, celebrating every “house!” with cheers and applause.
This wonderful week showcased the heart of MHA Jersey — a place where music, creativity, friendship and community weave together to make every day special. A heartfelt thank you to our volunteers, performers, and staff who make these moments possible.
