MHA Jersey featured in the Autumn ’26 edition of Town Crier

MHA Jersey is delighted to be featured in the Autumn 2026 edition of Town Crier, highlighting the care, community and compassion at the heart of Maison La Corderie and Stuart Court. The feature provides an insight into life within our homes, our approach to supporting older Islanders and our plans to ensure that MHA Jersey continues to provide high-quality care for generations to come.
Putting people at the heart of care in Jersey
At MHA Jersey, our philosophy is simple: people come first. We believe that moving into a care home should not mean giving up independence, choice or the things that make someone an individual. Our teams work closely with residents and their families to provide personalised care while creating welcoming communities where people feel valued, supported and, above all, at home. Our approach focuses on promoting independence and choice, providing individual care, supporting wellbeing and creating a genuine sense of belonging.
Life at Maison La Corderie
Situated between St Helier town centre and Havre des Pas, Maison La Corderie provides a peaceful and secure environment while remaining close to shops, restaurants and other local amenities. The home offers 31 single-occupancy bedrooms and two respite rooms, together with communal areas where residents can socialise, enjoy activities and spend time with family and friends. Following its most recent inspection, the Jersey Care Commission described the care provided at Maison La Corderie as “respectful, compassionate and dignified”, while also recognising the home's leadership, culture and organisation. For families considering care for a loved one, such independent oversight provides valuable reassurance alongside the opportunity to visit the home and meet the people who make it such a welcoming community.
Investing in the future of Stuart Court
The Town Crier article also highlights MHA Jersey's plans for a significant upgrade to Stuart Court in St Lawrence. The proposals would extend the existing building and increase capacity from 28 to 52 rooms, helping MHA Jersey respond to the growing demand for residential care in the Island. The plans also include improvements designed to meet changing regulatory requirements, enhance accessibility and safety and improve the overall environment for residents. Importantly, the development has been carefully considered to complement the existing building while respecting the character and heritage of the listed property. Residents themselves have helped shape the proposals, providing feedback on the qualities they value about Stuart Court and the aspects they would like to see retained.
Considering residential care in Jersey?
Choosing a care home is an important decision, and we encourage prospective residents and their families to visit our homes before making that choice. A visit provides an opportunity to meet residents and staff, experience everyday life within the home, ask questions and discuss individual care requirements.
